Pressure Washing & Ground Restoration

Pressure washing and ground restoration is a comprehensive exterior maintenance process that combines high-intensity cleaning to remove built-up dirt and organic growth with post-treatment procedures to stabilise, protect, and enhance hard ground surfaces.
Pressure Washing
Purpose
Pressure washing is the initial, deep-cleaning stage, using a high-pressure stream of water to blast away stubborn contaminants. It effectively removes dirt, grime, algae, moss, oil stains, and tire marks that accumulate on durable surfaces such as concrete, brick, and certain types of stone. This not only restores the appearance but also eliminates slip hazards caused by organic growth.
Process
A specialised machine forces water through a nozzle at high velocity. The pressure and nozzle type are adjusted based on the surface material to prevent damage (e.g., lower pressure for natural stone, higher for sturdy concrete). Stubborn stains are often pre-treated with a cleaning solution or degreaser to aid removal.
Ground Restoration
Purpose
Ground restoration refers to the crucial post-cleaning steps taken to repair, stabilise, and protect the surface, which is left vulnerable after the intense cleaning process. Pressure washing can dislodge the vital jointing sand between pavers and open the pores of porous materials. Restoration protects against rapid re-soiling, weed regrowth, water penetration, and general wear and tear, ensuring the longevity and
continued appearance of the surface.
Process and Key Features
Re-Sanding
This is essential for block paved areas. Kiln-dried or polymeric sand is swept into the joints and compacted to stabilise the blocks, prevent movement, and inhibit weed growth.
Crack Repair
Any cracks or minor damage exposed or caused during cleaning are filled with appropriate patching compounds before further treatment.
Sealing
A protective sealant is applied to the clean, dry surface. This creates a barrier against water, oil, chemicals, and UV rays, making the surface easier to clean in the future and enhancing its colour and finish (e.g., a "wet look" or matte finish).
Biocide Application
An anti-weed or anti-moss treatment can be applied to kill any remaining microscopic spores and further prevent future organic growth.
